1. Who we are
Thornton’s Sea View Cafe & Guesthouse is responsible for your personal data on this website (the “personal information controller” under the Philippine Data Privacy Act, and the “controller” under the EU GDPR).

Our website provider, VEKSAI (Nicolau Cavaller Ampurdanés, Barcelona, Spain · [email protected]), builds and runs this website and its chat assistant for us and on our instructions (a “personal information processor” / “processor”). You can also write to VEKSAI about your data; they will pass your request to us.
2. What we collect, and why
This website has no forms and no accounts. It never asks for your name, email or address. This is all it handles:

Please do not write personal or sensitive data in the chat (passport, card numbers, health). To book or ask something personal, call us or use WhatsApp or Messenger.
When you contact us through WhatsApp, Messenger, phone or Booking.com, those services handle your data under their own privacy policies. We use what you send us only to answer you and manage your stay.
We do not sell your data, we do not use it for advertising, and we make no automated decisions about you.
3. Who else sees it
- VEKSAI (Spain): builds and runs the website, the chat and the statistics, only on our instructions.
- Hostinger: web hosting. Cloudflare: delivers the site securely and fast.
- Google (Gemini API): writes the chat answers from what you type.
- OpenStreetMap: only when the map loads. YouTube: only if you press play.
Some of these providers process data outside the Philippines and the European Union (for example in the United States). We and VEKSAI use providers bound by contract to protect it, with the safeguards the law requires, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
4. How long we keep it
- Chat conversations: up to 90 days, then deleted automatically.
- Server logs: the short time the hosting provider needs for security.
- Statistics: totals only, with nothing that identifies you.
5. Your rights
Under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173), you have the right to be informed, to access your data, to object, to have it corrected, erased or blocked, to data portability, and to claim damages. If you are in the European Union, the GDPR also gives you the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and to withdraw consent at any time.
To use any of them, contact us (section 1) or VEKSAI at [email protected]. We answer free of charge. Because the chat keeps no names, tell us roughly when you chatted and what you wrote, so we can find it.
You may also complain to the National Privacy Commission of the Philippines, or, in the EU, to your national data protection authority. In Spain, where our provider is, that is the AEPD.
6. Cookies and storage on your device
This website sets no cookies: no advertising, no tracking, and our statistics use none. That is why there is no cookie banner. It only keeps this in your browser, because you ask for it:

If you press play on the drone film, YouTube may set its own cookies: see Google’s privacy policy. You can delete cookies and stored data at any time in your browser settings.
